30 Things Rihanna did before she Turned 30


Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the Barbadian pop diva, beauty queen, humanitarian, and fashion icon, turns 30 today. Be sure to celebrate with some cake (cake, cake, cake!), listen to this playlist, and drink a glass of wine in her honor. Hopefully this list of her accomplishments inspires to you to be a little bit more of a bad bitch.

Here are 30 things BadGalRiRi has done in the time she has graced planet earth:

  1. In 2004, when she was sixteen, she spent twelve weeks in the top ten, with her first hit single, “Pon De Replay.”

  2. Her first number one hit, “SOS”, was released in 2006 as a part of her second album “A Girl Like Me.” The album was reissued in 2007 with two more number one hits, “Disturbia” and “Take a Bow.”

  3. She has created fourteen number one hits, which surpasses Michael Jackson and places her at third most of all time, behind Mariah Carey (18) and The Beatles (20).

  4. She’s had 31 top ten hits as well as 61 songs reach the Hot 100 list.

  5. In 2016, she became the artist with the second-most weeks spent at number one on the Hot 100 list in the U.S.. She surpassed the Beatles when she hit 60 weeks. Mariah Carey is first, with 79 weeks.

  6. She has sold more than 230 million records since 2005.

  7. She has won twelve American Music Awards (including the first Icon Award). She is one of the ten most awarded artists in AMAs history.

  8. She’s won nine Grammy Awards and been nominated 33 times. She is also the female artist with the most wins (five!) in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category.

  9. She has won twelve Billboard Music Awards.

  10. She has won six MTV Video Music Awards.

  11. In 2017, she was the most streamed female artist on Spotify. And “sis didn’t even have an album out!”

  12. She created the Clara Lionel Foundation, a charity who believes in “the right to education as a weapon against injustice and inequality, and the right to health as a necessity for happiness and productivity.” The foundation works to provide accessible education and cancer treatment to lower-income countries.

  13. She established the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program, a scholarship fund for Caribbean students attending college in the U.S..

  14. She has made great contributions to preserving women’s health. According to S. Allen Counter, the Harvard Foundation’s director, she “charitably built a state-of- the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados.”

  15. In 2017, she was named Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year for her charitable work for women’s health and to promote education around the world.

  16. In September 2016, Rihanna became the first ever global ambassador for the Global Partnership for Education.

  17. In 2016, she performed at the Global Citizen Festival to advocate for equal access to quality education.

  18. She is the founder of Fenty Beauty, which is all inclusive (40 foundation shades!) and 100% cruelty free.   19. After Fenty Beauty was first released on September 9th, 2017, it was so successful that it earned her $72 million in one month.

  20. In 2016, Rihanna became the first woman to have won Footwear News’s coveted Shoe of the Year award. Her Fenty Puma Creepers sold out within hours every time new pairs were released.
